Types of Ultrasounds

We are one of the few veterinary hospitals in the Petaluma area to offer on-site diagnostic ultrasound.  Dr. Stemwedel has a strong professional interest in ultrasound and has been performing abdominal and thoracic ultrasounds for over 20 years.

Most ultrasound examinations do not require sedation or anesthesia, and they are not painful. Cardiac ultrasound, or echocardiography,  is an excellent, non-invasive way to evaluate your cat or dog for heart disease.

Abdominal ultrasound is used to evaluate all of the internal organs.  Ultrasound can aid in the diagnosis of intestinal disease or blockages, liver  disease, kidney disease, Cushing’s disease, bladder stones, tumors,  and much more.
